As I tend to do when my nails get long, I picked a polish that would be suited to more length. I also had one mood polish left untried, so it was the perfect time to finally try Claire’s Fabulous/Funky (Mood Nail Polish), a neon pink creme that’s cool-toned when cool, and warm-toned when warm:
Picture taken in natural light. Regrettably, the mood effect did not photograph well, but you can see what the cool shade looks like in the bottle. This applied well; I used three coats for full coverage. Since the color change is between two tones of the same color, the mood effect is subtle, but you can see it at times. When my mani was newly done, my free edge was noticeably cool-toned, though this became less perceptible with time. It definitely color-changes when I touch something cold, though! I don’t mind not seeing the cool shade as often, though, ’cause I love the warm shade! It’s so warm that it practically makes the cool shade look purple. This is a true neon, and it has a lovely glow, almost at retina-searing levels. Even though I only took this photo in natural light, you can still tell how glowy it is. I paired this with Color Club The Lime Starts Here over white on my toes.

My nails are at that point where I want to file them, but before I do, I thought I would take advantage of the length by trying another mood polish. Claire’s Peaceful/Confident (Mood Nail Polish) is a bright teal creme that leans more blue when cool and more green when warm:
Picture taken in sunlight. This applied well in three coats. Even though it’s not exactly a neon, it dries to that sort of semi-matte finish, which is a plus because it does dry fast. I could not capture the color-changing on film, and it doesn’t really show up in real life either. I don’t mind, though, ’cause it’s a teal and I find it pretty anyway. The “mood-changing” aspect of it is disappointing, probably because the color-shifting takes place between two shades of the same color. I only really observed it as I was painting it on my nails; it went on as a more blue-teal then I saw it change into the green-teal (which is how it looks most of the time.) I paired this with Sally Hansen Azalea (Salon) on my toes.

I usually file my nails on a regular basis, but I’ve gotten lazy and let them grow way too long for my liking. But while I have them this long, I thought it would be a great opportunity to show off another mood polish. Claire’s Calm/Wild (Mood Nail Polish) has a silver microglitter finish that’s purple when cool and pink when warm:
Picture taken in natural light. This applied well and very easily in just two coats. This went on like a regular polish, but once it was dry on the nail, it looked like a matte. With the silver microglitter finish, it reminds me of the OPI Suedes. I absolutely love the look of this! With my free edge this long, I get that little bit of purple that’s not affected by my body heat. I like touching hot and cold things to change the color, but I like the “normal” state as I’ve photographed here. It’s like a pretty, subtle gradation mani without having to go through the trouble of actually painting a gradation mani. I paired this with Sephora by OPI Mermaid to Order on my toes.

This is the first of my Wimbledon manis. For the other slams I would usually just wear the same colors my favorite players do, but with the tradition of wearing all-white, there isn’t much I can do in the way of kit-matching. So I’m doing Wimbledon/England-themed manis instead. Wimbledon is a grass tournament, and I’m starting with a green. But since my nails are so long right now, I thought it would be the perfect time to try this particular green. Claire’s Happy/Earthy (Mood Nail Polish) is a creme that is neon yellow-green when cool and neon highlighter yellow when warm:
Picture taken in sunlight. The formula was streaky, not totally unmanageable but not very easy to apply. I used three coats, plus touchups for this mani. I can still see very slight bald spots but I’m okay with that. I had never tried a mood-changing polish before, so I could not stop staring at my nails after I put this on. The color change is definitely noticeable. The nature of the polish creates a beautiful ombre effect; from yellow on my nail beds to green on the free edge. The fact that it’s a neon makes me like it even more! It looks like…electric lemon-lime. I paired this with Sally Hansen Deep Purple (Xtreme Wear) on my toes.
