After my last mani, I had just one more polish left to try from this collection.  After having it on all day, I can say I’m absolutely enamored of it.  Rescue Beauty Lounge Recherché (Iconic/Ironic, Spring 2011) is a deep, cool smoky purple creme:

Picture taken in natural light.  (I wish I had sunlight for this one!)  The formula was buttery smooth and applied so easily in two coats (although I barely needed the second.)  It’s a very dark color so it does creep into almost-black territory, but it has a certain smoky quality that keeps it from looking as dark as a jet black.  I had a hard time describing this color because it’s unlike anything I’ve seen before.  I can see how RBL can make unique, multidimensional shimmers, but making a unique creme is a feat!  It’s a cool-toned purple, but it’s cool without being blue-toned, for some reason.  And even though it’s not in wine territory, it looks vampy (and very luxe).  The color is the very definition of its namesake; it has an elegant and exquisite air about it.  And I love that “recherché” is a French loan word. 🙂  I paired this with OPI Can You Tapas This? on my toes.

I’m wearing yet another taupe/brown polish, but this time with a unique twist.  Rescue Beauty Lounge Decorous (Iconic/Ironic, Spring 2011) is a cocoa-taupe with pink and green shimmer:

Picture taken in sunlight.  This applied very well; I got complete, opaque coverage in two effortless coats.  I wasn’t sure whether to class this as brown or taupe, because it kind of looks like both at the same time.  The color matches the name perfectly; it does look very proper and work-friendly.  But this polish is far from boring; I love the addition of the subtle pink and green shimmer.  Even though it’s subtle, you can definitely tell it’s there in the light.  It’s not incredibly flashy, still keeping it “work appropriate,” but it’s a very pretty nuance.  I paired this with OPI Shim-merry Chic on my toes.

For the last weekend before Halloween weekend, I wanted to go back to black.  Rescue Beauty Lounge Iconoclast (Iconic/Ironic, Spring 2011) is a deep black with multicolored shimmer:

Picture taken in sunlight.  True to RBL’s amazing formula, this applied very well; I got complete coverage in two smooth, easy coats.  I know “deep black” sounds like an oxymoron, but this really is the richest, darkest black shimmer I’ve ever seen.  The shimmer added to similar polishes tend to give them a more charcoal tone, but this one looks truly black.  The multicoloredness of the shimmer is most apparent and most beautiful and rainbow-like under the sun.  It’s not very sparkly, but just gives off a wonderful sheen.  It’s like a fine powder of crushed jewels was mixed into the rich, velvety black base.  Even though I’ve never been to one, for some reason this makes me think of black sand beaches.  I paired this with Dashing Diva Northern Lights on my toes.

While I’m on this tangent of soft, romantic shades, I thought I’d definitely have to try this.  Rescue Beauty Lounge Insouciant (Iconic/Ironic, Spring 2011) is a smoky lavender with purple and turquoise green shimmer:

Picture taken in sunlight.  This was quite pigmented and applied very well, going on smoothly and effortlessly in two coats.  This polish is gorgeous, and unlike any other lavender I’ve tried.  I like that it’s a smoky, dusty shade rather than a pastel.  I especially love the unique twist of the purple and turquoise shimmer.  It’s subtle but still noticeable; you can definitely distinguish the different colors of shimmer mixed in there.  It all works perfectly well together; I catch myself staring at it a lot.  Oh, and thanks for teaching me a new word, RBL!  When I looked up what “insouciant” means I thought it just made sense that the word was used for the name.  These kinds of soft, romantic, subtly shimmery polishes inspire a sort of carefree feeling. 🙂  I paired this with Barielle Myrza’s Meadow on my toes.
