Thanksgiving is coming up, and it’s definitely been influencing my NOTD choices.  My last mani was drink-themed, and now I’ve chosen a dessert-themed polish.  Diamond Cosmetics Plum Pie in the Sky (Fall 2009) is a blue-toned dark purple creme:

Picture taken in natural light.  This was nicely pigmented and applied smoothly in two coats.  It’s refreshing to see a dark purple creme that’s blue-toned, instead of the more typical red-toned, wine/vampy shades.  I love the name; it sounds so whimsical!  The shade doesn’t remind me of plum fruit (I think red-purple when I think “plum”)  but this looks like the color of Jelly Belly plum jelly beans, no?  I paired this with MAC Dance All Night on my toes.

Continuing the theme of romantically-named polishes (and this one is a romantic pun, oh boy), I’m wearing Diamond Cosmetics Don’t Teal My Heart Away (Summer 2009), a greenish teal creme:

Picture taken in sunlight.  This applied well in two coats.  It was so pigmented that I just barely needed the second, though.  I can’t resist a teal creme!  This one is slightly green-leaning and vibrant.  It’s bright when compared to more dark teals, but looks more, I guess, medium, when compared to a really bright (as in approaching neon) teal.  Needless to say, I love it; the pigmentation is also a big plus.  I paired this with Milani Sugar on my toes.

I thought this polish was most appropriate to wear this month, with amethyst being the birthstone of February.  Diamond Cosmetics Amethyst & Diamonds (Holiday 2009) is a reddish amethyst purple metallic shimmer with small bits of holographic glitter:

Picture taken in sunlight.  This applied well in two coats.  The finish looks a little frosty and brushstroke-y but it’s not too bad.  This bubbled on me like crazy!  I got bubbles after applying both the first and second coats.  I was hoping topcoat would fix the problem, and luckily, it did mask most of the bubbles.  Actually, I’m not sure if it was bubbling or if it was glitter that couldn’t rise to the surface.  Either way, it’s not very appealing.  The sprinking of holographic glitter does look pretty, but it is very subtle, and only noticeable in direct light.  I paired this with Color Club Fashion Addict on my toes.

Last February, I really enjoyed picking out polishes with romantic/valentine-themed names (I found out there plenty!)  I have even more to try, so I’d like to revisit this theme.  Diamond Cosmetics Oh, Tiff! (Summer 2009) is a robin egg blue with subtle shimmer:

Picture taken in sunlight.  (I don’t know why this photographed that green!  It has a certain turquoise-green tone, but in real life it does look closer to robin’s egg blue, and I tried to pick the photo that had the most blue tone.)  The formula was a little thick but applied well.  I needed three coats for evenness.  It’s not the closest match to Tiffany blue, but it’s in the same general family.  I like the secret shimmer; when viewed in direct light it gives a nice, slight sheen to the finish.  But when out of direct light, the finish looks like a creme.  Either way, it’s a very soft and pretty look.  I paired this with Milani Sweet on my toes.

Although Christmas was over, I wanted to do one last red mani for the holiday season (and Christmas music was still being played at the malls anyway.)  Diamond Cosmetics Cherry Tobacco (Winter 2009) is a blackened red shimmer:

Picture taken in sunlight.  This applied well in two coats.  This looks amazing in the sun; the gorgeous burnt, velvety red color combined with that lit-from-within quality.  Unfortunately, the effect is mostly lost when viewed in the shade.  I paired this with Brucci Black Emerald on my toes.

While on vacation in the Philippines, I was able to photograph my NOTDs, but I couldn’t post them until I got back home.  This is the first of those vacation manis; I was still following a holiday theme.  Diamond Cosmetics Never So Ever-Green (Fall 2009) is a deep, smoky forest green with golden shimmer:

Picture taken in sunlight.  This applied well in two coats.  I adore the color; the smokiness makes it so much more interesting and unique.  The shimmer is so delicate; it makes the color look more festive. :)   The name was totally spot-on for this one, I think it really does remind me of pine trees.   I paired this with Barielle Out-Grey-Geous on my toes.

The Yankees are back home, and I’m continuing this run of Posteason Blues™ with Diamond Cosmetics Blue Diamonds (Holiday 2009), an icy blue metallic shimmer with small bits of holographic glitter:

Picture taken in sunlight.  This applied well in two coats.  The holo effect mostly disappears out of direct light, but it sparkles delicately in the sun.  (I think my topcoat kind of killed some of the holo-ness.)  Since this is a holographic glitter sprinkled throughout a shimmer finish, there are some metallic-looking brushstrokes, but it doesn’t look frosty.  The effect works well with this shade of blue.  I paired this with Color Club Worth the Risque on my toes.

Neons just scream summer to me, so I’ll definitely be wearing a lot of those this month. Diamond Cosmetics Hot Summer Pink (Summer 2009) is a neon pink with tiny flake shimmer and a hint of a blue flash:

Picture taken in sunlight.  (I’m sure I’ll be saying this a lot this month: this is much brighter than the picture conveys.  That neon glow is hard to capture!)  This applied well in two coats.  The blue flash is more apparent in the bottle than on the nail.  But because of that flash, the shade looks more cool-toned.  This looks really, really glowy, especially in the light.  I think the small flaky shimmer is so pretty!  It’s something I don’t see in most of my other neon polishes.  I paired this with Essie Bermuda Shorts on my toes.
